ARGUMENTATIVE WRITING - FEMINISM Feminism is more than just the dictionary definition of it simply because it is more than just advocating for women's rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes. It's about the intrinsic acknowledgment of our societal roles; it begins with you, me, and her. Once that change in embracing the essence and strength within everyone takes place, it won't be much of what seems more of a fight for equality. When a woman walks, her exuding confidence and aura of who she is, she can own and take her place. There'll be no hesitation or constant badgering. Feminism is more than telling our counterparts and educating them about the importance of our being. It is being. It's about actions without so many words. I've seen and heard about instances where we women tear each other down, or instead, once some of us are on top, we find it hard to recollect where we were, and we let those who are still 'on the climb' be forgotten. Feminism isn't just about the equality of the sexes; it's about playing our part as women and being seen, recognized, and appreciated for it. Had this been visited from the beginning, the definition of Feminism should have been re-defined. It's about being equally yoked interdependently, even amongst us. It's about supporting each other and not the often-seen power struggle between men and women. There's always more. There must be more simply because this world belongs to all of us. Pitting ourselves in a power struggle defeats the purpose of hearing all these voices trying to scream out because everyone wants to be louder and more audible. Feminism should be about feeling, advocating for, and recognizing the importance of mattering. I often feel like having a black-and-white definition of Feminism makes some women angrier than being the strong, gentle, and yet powerful force we are. If we come off as furious, which makes our counterparts fight back at the end of the day, what would be the result? It'll be a 'never-ending story,' an endless loop. I can't be sure that what Feminism means to me is shared amongst many or a mutual feeling with a few I have yet to meet, but all I know is that I am learning and growing every day. So perhaps it will mean differently in a couple of years, perhaps not.
