Local Customs & Etiquettes

● Dress Modestly in Public: Since Maldives is a Muslim
country, covering shoulders and knees is expected in
local areas. But at resorts, you’re free to wear swimwear
● Greetings: A friendly handshake and a smile go a long
way! Always use your right hand when giving or receiving
something.
● Alcohol & Behaviour: Alcohol is only served at resorts don’t expect to find it in local shops or restaurants. Also,
public displays of intoxication aren’t allowed
● Tipping: It is not required but appreciated! Most resorts
add 10 percent service charge, but an extra tip for great
service is always welcomed.
