Dwayne Mwaniki

Hi, I’m Dwayne Mwaniki, a passionate and versatile frontend developer based in Nairobi, Kenya, with a growing foundation in full-stack development. I specialize in creating engaging, responsive, and interactive web applications using modern technologies. My journey has been deeply hands-on, project-based, and driven by a hunger to learn, grow, and build tools that solve real problems.

Over the past year, I’ve worked on a variety of personal and client-facing projects, applying and refining my skills across both design and development. One of my flagship projects is SoulSync, a personality-first dating platform aimed at transforming how people connect. The platform incorporates advanced features such as AI-powered icebreakers, gamified matching, mood-based filters, community hubs, and personality-based compatibility tests. I’ve built components using React.js, Tailwind CSS, Framer Motion, and Chakra UI, while the backend stack includes Node.js, Express, MongoDB, and Firebase for real-time interactions and authentication.

Beyond SoulSync, I’ve also worked on:

A Shopify storefront using Liquid templating, responsive design principles, and AJAX interactivity — created as part of a job application to showcase dynamic product rendering.

A single-page website for a gardening brand called Kileleshwa Gardening, merging modern layout structures with visual storytelling through animated transitions and gardening-themed elements.

A URL shortener tool with click tracking and monetization options, built with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Node.js, and MongoDB or SQLite.

A fun mobile swipe-based app titled “Would You Rather?” developed in Android Studio, featuring offline functionality, swipeable cards, categories, and ad monetization.

I enjoy frontend development most — transforming UI mockups into living, breathing experiences — but I’m also expanding steadily into backend and full-stack territory. I’m currently mastering React, Node.js, and tools like Firebase, and I’ve dabbled in Python, Java, and PHP during my software development training.

I’m familiar with version control via Git/GitHub, and I document my code clearly with comments, ensuring easy collaboration. I'm also learning UI/UX best practices and prefer to use skeleton loaders and clean component libraries like MUI or Chakra to make interfaces polished and user-friendly.

My goal is to find remote opportunities where I can contribute meaningfully, grow professionally, and earn sustainably — especially as I prepare to welcome a new addition to my family.
